Creative Corner: A Hawk, Figurines, and fun painting

Violet completed this sketch of a hawk using Hammond's Lifelike Drawing.

Benny asked to be allowed to paint the two Cars figurines that he received for Christmas,

and Henry (determined not to be left out) broke out the washable paint on his own to make the above creations.

Creative Corner: Clouds, turkey, mushroom, and Santa

Violet completed this cloud painting using Acrylic Painting by Hammond.  She also spent two weeks on a monochrome landscape painting but didn't want the picture posted.
Benny completed this Thanksgiving turkey in crayon,

 snail on a mushroom in Sharpie and watercolor,
and Santa stamp with marker.  All three projects came from artprojectsforkids.org.  He also drew a Phoenician ship and a Trojan horse but chose to leave the as unfinished sketches.

Creative Corner: Towels & Teapots; a Fish, a Cat, and a Pharoah

Both of Violet's completed art projects from the last three weeks come from Lifelike Drawing by Hammond.  This is a hanging towel and
a pewter teapot.
Benny completed this cartoon fish with Sharpie and crayon,
a Halloween cat in a pumpkin with Sharpie and watercolor,
and a pharaoh with Sharpie and chalk pastels.

as well as this monochrome acrylic seascape using Acrylic Painting by Hammond over the past two weeks.
Benny drew a country barn using Sharpie and crayons and
this basket of apples with Sharpie and watercolor.

Creative Corner: Acrylic Apple and a Sphinx

Violet completed another acrylic painting project from Acrylic Painting by Hammond.  It took her a couple of tries before she was satisfied with her final apple.

Benny tried his first project from Draw and Write Through History and drew this sphinx but wasn't interested in coloring it so we left it as a sketch.

Art for Benny's 4th Grade

For Benny's art next year, I went web surfing back to my favorite blog for art ideas.  I chose a mixture of watercolor, oil pastel, and crayon or colored pencil.  Since we are also covering ancient history this year, I added in a few of the more simple drawings from the two corresponding Draw and Write books by Gressman.  Benny is too much of a perfectionist to tackle many of these projects for now.

Creative Corner: A girl, an ice cream cone, and Veggietales

Violet drew a young girls from the cover art of one of our books.

Benny completed this watercolor ice cream cone following these directions (with a tiny bit of help from his younger brother on painting the background).

Henry drew his favorite art subjects, Bob and Larry, and then turned them into trees just to be silly.

Violet completed another drawing from our 1-2-3 Draw People book this week.
Benny followed these directions to create another Popsicle house which he painted as a bird house.  We also added a magnet to the back and placed it on the fridge.

Creative Corner: A Gymnast and a Dog

Violet drew this gymnast using 1-2-3 Draw People by Levin.

Benny followed these directions except that we used crayon instead of Sharpie to trace the outline in order to keep the watercolors from bleeding.
